BLACK TEA
Organic Lapsang Souchong
Our supreme orthodox Lapsang Souchong is hand made, sticking to the traditional method used until today, harvested from naturally grown Bohea tea bushes at an altitude of 1400 meters in the Wuyi Mountains of Northern Fujian China. Considered to be the birthplace of the first Chinese black tea. Our Organic Lapsang Souchong Black Tea has been crafted and processed almost entirely by hand into a Lapsang Souchong tea with an exquisite flavor.Lapsang Souchong is one of the oldest black tea in the world. It has a history of 400 years so far. Lapsang Souchong is ideal for dishes mixed with curry and meat. It is fumigated with pine needles or pine wood and its aroma is rich and thick.
The plump dark and curly leaves offer a beautiful dried-longan aroma. Once infused, the bright amber liquid it produces is full-bodied, smooth with fruity taste and aroma reminiscent of currents and candied wild figs. Our Lapsang Souchong black tea, carries a beatiful aroma, with a strong fruity flavour, only slightly smoked and for me is the perfect choice to pair with strong cheese or a slice of choclate cake.
Unlike many other tea-producing areas in China, the tea trees here in the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Preserve of Fujian Province of south eastern China are not cultivated in the plantation style. They are allowed to grow naturally wild in spacious groves (making them more difficult to pick), ranging in age from a several years old to more than 100 years old, and elevations around 2500-3200 feet. This growing zone is strictly protected by the government, so absolutely no chemicals or pesticides are used.
