CHINA BLACK TEA
The origin of this rare Organic black tea is Guangdong province, China. There are different theories and legends as to why this tea is named after golden monkeys. The name probably comes from its unique appearance as the leaves resemble monkey tails. In local folklore it is said to have been picked by golden monkeys from tall tea trees, and also that this black tea was very popular with local Chinese landlords and taipans, who believed that the tea gave them the strength and virility attributed to male golden monkeys.
Golden Monkey tea is hand processed each spring at an Altitude of 400m above sea level, with a careful pluck of only one leaf and bud. Ours has a neat, twisted leaf with a good amount of golden tip. Infusion is red and bright with a mellow, sweet and strong taste. This delicious tea produces a floral, sweet fragrance, with fruity, cocoa and malty notes. If you enjoy complex full-bodied teas with an abundance of flavour we recommend you give this tea a try.
